I’m a writer/content creator/game designer/jack-of-all-words (and master of some) who’s had a long run in the tabletop RPG industry. I have spent more time working with werewolves, necromancers, changelings, magi, novas, demigods, beastmen, knights, sin-eaters and vampires than is perhaps healthy. I have not spent so much time with them to grow sick of them.
A “haint” is an Appalachian bogey, wonderfully immune to taxonomy. It may be a vision, may be a ghost, may be an evil spirit, who knows?
A “gardinel” is another Appalachian folklore critter that looks like a house but on the inside is all mouth. They’re pretty neat.
